Glottolog

Language Classification Database, Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology

Glottolog is an academic database of the world's languages, language families and dialects, built and maintained by the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology. It focuses on genealogical classification supported by a curated bibliography of primary descriptive sources for each language, and is widely used by historical and comparative linguists as a classification reference distinct from Ethnologue's more population-focused catalog.
