The Shastan, or Sastean, languages are an extinct family of four languages formerly spoken in what is now northern California and southern Oregon, including Konomihu, Shasta and Okwanuchu. Konomihu appears to have been the most divergent of the family, Okwanuchu may have been a dialect of Shasta, and Shasta itself was the last to become extinct, with three elderly speakers reported in the 1980s. Shastan has often been considered part of the hypothetical Hokan stock.
