Klamath-Modoc

Klamath, also called Klamath-Modoc and historically Lutuamian, was spoken around Klamath Lake in what is now southern Oregon and northern California. It was the traditional language of the Klamath and Modoc peoples, each speaking their own dialect, and is grouped in the disputed Plateau Penutian proposal rather than treated as a proven relative of any other family. Its last fully fluent native speaker, living in Chiloquin, Oregon, was still alive in 2003, though by 2006 no fluent native speakers of either dialect remained; revitalization efforts begun by 2019 aim to create new speakers.
