Missouri River Siouan is a branch of the Western Siouan (Siouan proper) language family, distinct from the family's larger Mississippi Valley branch. It consists of two closely related languages, Crow (Absaroka) and Hidatsa, historically concentrated along the Missouri River in the northern Great Plains of the United States. Hidatsa is severely endangered with roughly 200 speakers, while Crow retains a larger speaker base of about 3,500 among the Crow Nation of Montana.
