The Takelma-Kalapuyan languages, also called Takelman, are a proposed small language family comprising the Kalapuyan languages of Oregon's Willamette Valley and the Takelma language of the Rogue Valley in southern Oregon, both now extinct. The grouping is tentatively associated with the broader and likewise uncertain Penutian hypothesis; some linguists, such as Lyle Campbell, consider it highly likely if not fully demonstrated, while others, including Marianne Mithun, remain skeptical that the languages are closely enough related to form a unified family.
