Keres, also called Keresan, is a Native American language spoken by the Keres Pueblo people of New Mexico. Depending on the analysis, it is treated either as a small language family or as a language isolate with several dialects, and if considered an isolate it would be the most widely spoken language isolate within the United States. The varieties of its seven pueblos are mutually intelligible with their closest neighbors, though the Western and Eastern groups differ enough that they are sometimes counted as separate languages.
