Tangkic

The Tangkic languages are a small family of Australian Aboriginal languages spoken on the southeastern coast of the Gulf of Carpentaria and the Wellesley Islands in northern Australia, comprising Lardil, Kayardild, Yukulta and the extinct and only tentatively included Minkin. Lardil, which carries a distinct avoidance register called Damin, is notably divergent from the rest of the family, while Yukulta and Kayardild are mutually intelligible with each other. A wider connection to the Pama-Nyungan family has been proposed but remains uncertain.
