It has not been demonstrated that these languages form a clade, characterized by shared innovations, within Sino-Tibetan.

Why this is disputed. Bodish (Tibetic and its relatives) belongs within the Sino-Tibetan family; it is linked directly here because the intermediate Tibeto-Burman node is not yet represented as its own entity in this atlas.
