The Aru languages are a group of about a dozen Austronesian languages of the Central-Eastern Malayo-Polynesian branch, spoken on the Aru Islands of Indonesia. None of the languages has more than ten thousand speakers, and though geographically close to the Central Maluku languages, the Aru languages form a linguistically distinct group; rather than clearly separated individual languages, they form an interconnected linkage or dialect chain.
