Ray Jackendoff

Structural and Theoretical Linguistics

Ray Jackendoff is an American linguist, professor of philosophy and Seth Merrin Chair in the Humanities, who was co-director, with Daniel Dennett, of the Center for Cognitive Studies at Tufts University. He has worked at the boundary between generative linguistics and cognitive linguistics, committed to the existence of an innate universal grammar while giving an account of language consistent with current understanding of the human mind and cognition.
