Yucuna, also called Jukuna, Matapi, Yucuna-Matapi or Yukunais, is an Arawakan language of the Northern, Upper Amazon, Western Nawiki branch spoken by about 1,800 people along the Miriti-Parana River in Colombia. It is a polysynthetic language with subject-verb-object word order, and the Tucanoan-descended Matapi people merged into the Yucuna-speaking community after many Matapi were enslaved or relocated to Brazil; the extinct Guaru language may have been a dialect of Yucuna or a close relative.
