Wangkangurru is a dialect of the Arabana language, part of the Karnic branch of the Pama-Nyungan family, traditionally spoken by the Wangkangurru people of the Simpson Desert region of South Australia. It shares the full consonant inventory typical of Australian languages, with several nasals and laterals produced with a brief prestopped onset. The 2016 census recorded only three living speakers, all women, leaving the dialect close to extinction.
