The Anim or Fly River languages are a family of 17 Papuan languages spoken in south-central New Guinea along the Fly River, in parts of both Papua New Guinea and Indonesia's Merauke and Mappi regencies, established by linguists Timothy Usher and Edgar Suter in 2015. The family's name derives from the Fly River and from the reconstructed Proto-Anim word anim, meaning people, and it divides into four main branches: Inland Gulf, Tirio, Boazi and Marind-Yaqai. It is tentatively classified within the broader Trans-New Guinea languages.
