Maldivian, also known by its endonym Dhivehi, is an Indo-Aryan language of the Indo-Iranian branch spoken by the Maldivian people native to the archipelagic state of the Maldives, as well as on the neighboring Minicoy Island within India's Lakshadweep union territory.
