Belongs here: Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Western Punjabi, Nepali, Sindhi, Assamese, Odia, Konkani, Bhojpuri, Kashmiri, Romani, Sinhala, and the classical stages Sanskrit and Prakrit. Does not belong here: an Iranian-branch language, Indo-Iranian's other branch, or a Dravidian language spoken in the same region but genetically unrelated.
