The Burmish languages are a subgroup of the Sino-Tibetan languages, consisting of Burmese along with non-literary languages spoken across Myanmar and South China such as Achang, Lhao Vo, Lashi and Zaiwa.

Why this is disputed. Burmish (Burmese and its relatives) belongs within the Lolo-Burmese branch of Sino-Tibetan; it is linked directly to Sino-Tibetan here because the intermediate Lolo-Burmese and Tibeto-Burman nodes are not yet represented as their own entities in this atlas.
