Paeonian

Paeonian, also spelled Paionian, was a poorly attested and now extinct Indo-European language spoken by the ancient Paeonians until late antiquity, in a region north of Pelagonia and Lower Macedonia, south of Dardania, west of Thrace and east of the southernmost Illyrian territories. Because so little material survives, its exact place within Indo-European remains uncertain, and linguists have proposed links ranging from Illyrian and Thracian to a Hellenic origin.
