An Esperantido (plural Esperantidoj) is a constructed language derived from Esperanto; the term originally referred to the language now known as Ido, and comes from the affix -ido, meaning offspring or descendant, coined by Claus Killing-Gunkel. A number of Esperantidoj have been created to address perceived flaws in Esperanto's lexicon, grammar, pronunciation, or orthography, while others were made as language games or literary variations.
