Para-Romani languages are mixed languages of non-Indo-Aryan classification that combine Romani vocabulary with the grammar of a surrounding language, spoken by Romani communities in place of, or alongside, varieties of Romani itself. Some Para-Romani languages retain no structural features of Romani at all, taking only its vocabulary. Most Para-Romani languages are grammatically based on Indo-European languages, with exceptions including Laiuse Romani, based on Estonian, and Erromintxela, based on Basque.
