The Kherwarian languages are the non-Korku branch of the North Munda languages, part of the Austroasiatic family, spoken across the Indian states of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Chhattisgarh and extending into Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. The group divides into the Santalic and Mundaric subdivisions and includes around fourteen languages, among them Santali, Mundari, Ho, Koda and Korwa.
