A regional or social variety of English retaining mutual intelligibility with the standard language while carrying its own phonology, vocabulary and grammar, spoken across the British Isles, North America, the Caribbean, Oceania and Southeast Asia's English-lexified contact zones. Belongs here: African American Vernacular English, Australian English, Cockney, Geordie, Jamaican Patois, Newfoundland English, Scouse, Singlish, Southern American English and Yorkshire Dialect, every one recorded in this atlas's own graph as Descends From English; Jamaican Patois and Singlish carry substantial contact-language and creole influence and are included here on that same live relationship rather than reclassified by hand. Does not belong here: a variety descending from any language other than English, or the English language entity itself.
