Warrongo, also known as Warungu, is an extinct Pama-Nyungan language of the Maric branch, one of about a dozen languages in that group, traditionally spoken in Queensland, Australia, around Wairuna, the Princess Hills, the Herbert River and the Mount Garnet region. Its last native speaker, Alf Palmer, died in 1981, but a revival movement led by linguist Tasaku Tsunoda and Warrongo descendants has run language classes since 2002, with the language reappearing in children's teasing and in personal names.
