Maric is a branch of the Pama-Nyungan family of Australian languages, formerly spoken across much of Queensland by many of the Murri peoples. Documentation and classification vary widely among its member languages, which include Gunggari, Guwamu, Bidyara, Gangulu, Biri, Warrungu and Gudjal among others; most are now sleeping languages, though some communities are working to revitalize them.
