Southeastern Tasmanian is one of the tentative regional groupings proposed for the extinct Aboriginal languages of Tasmania, associated with Bruny Island and the surrounding southeast coast. Linguist Claire Bowern's phylogenetic analysis of the surviving wordlists found the southeastern varieties closely related to the Oyster Bay grouping to the island's east, though the underlying documentation is fragmentary, drawn from wordlists recorded by early colonial settlers rather than by trained linguists. Like every Tasmanian language, Southeastern Tasmanian had ceased to be used for daily communication by the 1830s; the last speaker of any Tasmanian language, Fanny Cochrane Smith, died in 1905.
