Wanyjirra is one of the Ngumbin languages of the Pama-Nyungan family, traditionally spoken in the Northern Territory of Australia from Inverway Station north toward Mount Rose and east toward Mount Farquharson, near the Western Australia border. Its remaining speakers live mainly around Inverway Station and Birrindudu Station on the edge of the Tanami Desert, and conversations among them often code-switch with the closely related Standard Eastern Gurindji language. Early recordings were made by Tasaku Tsunoda as a postgraduate student, and Chikako Senge published a full descriptive grammar in 2015; the language is now moribund.
