The Maweti-Guarani languages are a branch of the Tupian family spoken in Brazil, first proposed by Aryon Rodrigues in 1984. The branch comprises three divisions, Mawe, Aweti and the Tupi-Guarani languages, all descending from a reconstructed Proto-Maweti-Guarani that itself developed from Proto-Tupian.
