Purian is represented by Puri, an extinct language of eastern Brazil currently being revived by the Puri people. Puri, whose own name for itself is Kwaytikindo, meaning language, ceased being spoken sometime in the 19th century, but the Puri people have reconstructed it and a number of second-language speakers now exist according to Ethnologue. It can be treated as a language isolate, with the related Coroado language regarded as one of its dialects.
