Ashéninka is the name traditionally given to varieties within the Ashéninka-Asháninka dialect complex, part of the Campan branch of the Arawakan family. Ethnologue distinguishes seven separate languages across the whole complex, while a proposal by Pedrós divides it into three languages by mutual intelligibility; Glottolog follows the Pedrós division, treating those three as family-level groupings of Ethnologue's seven.
