The Upper Sepik languages are a group of ten to a dozen languages classified among the Sepik languages of northern Papua New Guinea, spoken in Sandaun Province and western East Sepik Province along the upper Sepik River. William Foley's classification divides the group into an Abau-Iwam branch and a Yellow and Wanibe Rivers branch, the latter encompassing the Ram languages and the Yellow River languages. Even the pronoun systems of the group's major subdivisions do not appear to be cognate with one another, pointing to considerable internal diversity.
