Palikur is an Arawakan language of the Northern branch's Palikuran subfamily, spoken by about 1,500 people of the Palikur ethnic group, and formerly by the Karipuna do Amapa, across the border region of Brazil and French Guiana. UNESCO classifies it as endangered in French Guiana and vulnerable in Brazil, and many remaining speakers also use French, Portuguese or French Guianese Creole in daily life.
