Descends From

Descends from traces a language back to the earlier language it grew out of. Wikipedia notes that Spanish "evolved from the Vulgar Latin spoken on the Iberian Peninsula of Europe," one branch among several that Latin split into. This dimension shows the direct line of descent running from an older language to a newer one.
