The Baram-Thangmi languages, Baram and Thangmi, are Tibeto-Burman languages spoken in Nepal, classified as part of the Newaric branch by the linguists George van Driem in 2003 and Mark Turin in 2004, who view Newar as most closely related to them. They were formerly grouped within the broader Mahakiranti hypothesis by van Driem in 2001, a classification he later retracted.
