Macedonian Sign Language is the sign language of the deaf community of North Macedonia, descended through the Yugoslav and Austro-Hungarian branches of the French Sign Language family. Its use and the rights of its signers have been governed by national law since August 2009, and while its exact number of signers is undocumented, about 6,000 people have requested signed news broadcasts on Macedonian television.
