Chukotkan, also called Chukotian or Chukotic, is a branch of the Chukotko-Kamchatkan language family spoken in Russia's extreme northeast, in territory bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the east and the Arctic Ocean to the north. It comprises Chukchi, Koryak, and Alyutor, along with the extinct Kerek language. The related term Luorawetlan, coined in the 1930s, was originally used for Chukchi and draws on an ethnonym shared by the Chukchi and Koryak peoples.
