This group collects members of the Tupian family, one of South America's largest language families by number of daughter languages and geographic spread, anchored by the Tupi-Guarani branch (Guarani and the Tupi languages of coastal and Amazonian Brazil) alongside more divergent branches such as Monde, Arikem, Tupari, Ramarama, Mundurukú, Juruna and Puruborá. The family spans from the Atlantic coast of Brazil and Paraguay deep into the Amazon basin. Placement follows each member's own description naming it Tupian, Tupi-Guarani, or one of these named Tupian branches.
