The Hanseman languages are a group of roughly 21 relatively closely related languages of the Central Madang branch of the Madang family's Mabuso group, spoken in the Hansemann Range of Madang Province, Papua New Guinea; closeness is relative to New Guinea's own linguistic diversity, with member languages Wagi and Nobonob sharing only 30 percent lexical similarity. The group divides into five regional divisions: standalone Kare; East Hansemann, comprising Nobonob and Wagi; Central Hansemann, comprising Bagupi-Nake and Saruga; North Hansemann, comprising Garus-Rapting and Rempi-Yoidik; Northwest Hansemann, comprising Mosimo-Wamas and Samosa, which includes Murupi; and Southwest Hansemann, comprising Matepi, Utu-Silopi, Baimak, Gal and Mawan.
