Mruic, also called Mru-Hkongso, is a small group of two Sino-Tibetan languages, Mru and Anu-Hkongso, spoken in Burma and Bangladesh. Their precise position within Sino-Tibetan remains uncertain, with scholars debating whether they belong to Lolo-Burmese, a Northeast Indian areal grouping, or a separate branch showing affinities with the Bodo-Garo languages; the name Mru-Hkongso was proposed by Peterson and Wright in 2009 and adopted by DeLancey in 2021.
