Moldova Sign Language, ISO 639-3 code vsi, is a sign language of the French Sign Language family used in the Republic of Moldova. It shows relatively high lexical similarity to Russian Sign Language, though evidence suggests the two may be distinct languages rather than dialects of one another. Soviet-era education prioritized Russian and oralist methods, and since Moldova's independence the language has been shaped by both Russian Sign Language, stronger in the country's east, and Romanian Sign Language, stronger in the west, with fingerspelling itself varying regionally between written Russian and written Romanian; evidence that Moldovan deaf children may need interpreters when encountering Russian Sign Language further supports the language's distinctiveness.
