The Danish Sign Language family comprises three languages: Danish Sign Language, Norwegian Sign Language, which includes Malagasy Sign Language, and Icelandic Sign Language. It is itself a sub-family within the larger French Sign Language family; the linguist Wittmann classified Danish Sign Language within the French Sign Language family in 1991, though Danish Sign Language has also been influenced by a local pidgin form of Scandinavian sign.
