Bhutanese Sign Language, called Drukgi Lagdai Khakay in Dzongkha, is the indigenous sign language of Bhutan, used especially at the Wangsel Institute for the Deaf in Paro. Bhutan's first deaf education began around 2000 in a hearing school in Thimphu, with a dedicated school approved in Paro in 2013, and it remains unknown whether the language is related to Indian Sign Language or Nepali Sign Language, or whether Bhutan in fact has more than one sign language beyond regional vocabulary differences.
