This group collects members of the Salishan family, spoken around the Salish Sea and across the interior plateau of the Pacific Northwest in British Columbia, Washington, Idaho and Montana, comprising a Coast Salish branch and an Interior Salish branch, together one of the defining indigenous language families of the Pacific Northwest coast and plateau. Placement follows each member's own description naming it Salishan or Salish.
