Mayan and Oto-Manguean

This group collects members of the two large Mesoamerican families Mayan and Oto-Manguean, spoken respectively across Guatemala, southern Mexico and Belize (Mayan, comprising 29 to 31 living languages plus several extinct members including Classic Maya) and across a broad area of central and southern Mexico (Oto-Manguean, including its Mazatecan branch of about 200,000 speakers in the Sierra Mazateca of Oaxaca). Placement follows each member's own description naming it Mayan or Oto-Manguean, or naming a recognized Oto-Manguean branch such as Mazatecan.
