Japonic and Koreanic

Japonic, the family that includes Japanese and the endangered Ryukyuan languages of Okinawa and the southern Japanese islands, and Koreanic, the family that includes Korean and a small number of closely related historical varieties, are two separate language families of East Asia with no demonstrated genetic relationship to each other, though they are frequently discussed together and have both been proposed, without wide acceptance, as relatives of the Altaic languages. This group holds every Eurasian Language Families member whose sourced description identifies it as Japonic, Koreanic or Ryukyuan, or as a named branch within either family.
