Thracian is an extinct and poorly attested language once spoken in ancient times in Southeast Europe by the Thracian people. Its precise relationships within the Indo-European family remain poorly understood, though scholars broadly agree it was an Indo-European language. Modern knowledge of Thracian rests mainly on a large body of personal and place names along with a handful of fragmentary inscriptions that have resisted clear interpretation.
