Dacian

Dacian is an extinct language generally believed to belong to the Indo-European family, spoken in the ancient region of Dacia. Only one inscription is believed to survive in the language, so most of what is known comes indirectly: around 1,150 personal names, 900 place names and roughly sixty plant names of probable Dacian origin have been identified in other ancient sources. Twentieth century comparative work reconstructed about a hundred Dacian words, though by 1982 only twenty to twenty five of these had won wide scholarly acceptance.
