This group collects members of the Chadic branch of the Afroasiatic family, spoken around Lake Chad and across northern Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and the Central African Republic, including Hausa, the most widely spoken Chadic language and one of the most widely spoken languages in Africa as a whole, alongside numerous smaller and less documented Chadic languages of the same region. Placement follows each member's own description naming it Chadic.
