Bayungu, also spelled Payungu, is an extinct Pama-Nyungan language of the Kanyara branch of the Kanyara-Mantharta group, traditionally spoken in the southern Pilbara region of Western Australia between the mouths of the Gascoyne and Ashburton rivers. It is documented as a closely related variety alongside Burduna, the two together forming one of the Kanyara branch's two constituent language pairs, the other being Thalanyji and Pinikura. Like the other Kanyara languages, its name and that of its branch derive from the local word for man.
