Nyamal is a Pama-Nyungan language of the Ngayarda branch, spoken by the Nyamal people of the Pilbara region of Western Australia, with between 20 and 34 native speakers recorded in the mid-2000s. Two dialects are recognized, Nyamal proper and Widugari. The language has a typologically unusual kinship terminology that marks a relative's sex, generation and moiety but not the specific relationship itself, so that, for example, a father and a father's brother are both addressed with the single term mama.
