Warlpiri is a Pama-Nyungan language of the Ngarrkic branch, spoken by close to 3,000 of the Warlpiri people of the Tanami Desert, northwest of Alice Springs in Central Australia. It is one of the most widely spoken Aboriginal languages in Australia by number of speakers. The well-known term for the Dreaming, Jukurrpa, derives from Warlpiri.
