Pitjantjatjara is a dialect of the Western Desert language, a Pama-Nyungan language traditionally spoken by the Pitjantjatjara people of Central Australia near Uluru. It is mutually intelligible with other varieties of the Western Desert language and is particularly closely related to the neighboring Yankunytjatjara dialect; the names of the two groups derive from their respective words for come and go.
